Numerology is the study of the symbolic significance of numbers. The most important number in Pythagorean numerology is the Life Path Number — derived from your date of birth. It reveals your fundamental nature, innate tendencies and the overarching theme of your current lifetime.
How to Calculate Your Life Path Number
Add all the digits of your full date of birth and keep reducing until you reach a single digit. The exceptions are master numbers 11, 22 and 33, which are not reduced further.
Example: 15 August 1990
- Day: 1 + 5 = 6
- Month: 8 (August)
- Year: 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19 → 1 + 9 = 10 → 1 + 0 = 1
- Total: 6 + 8 + 1 = 15 → 1 + 5 = 6

How Numerology Complements Vedic Astrology
Your life path number often confirms or adds nuance to your Vedic ascendant and moon sign analysis. Name numerology (Chaldean system) further reveals how your name interacts with your birth date — and whether a name correction might improve your luck and opportunities.
